Last-Minute Patchwork & Quilted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson

Happy Friday, everyone! I’ve been getting back into textiles recently, after a long hiatus. With my job switch last year and focusing so much on my volunteer work in animal welfare, I haven’t had as much time to dedicate to crafts and art, which I really love. Two friends of mine are having babies this year, though, so it’s the perfect opportunity to get back into the swing of things with some baby quilts! I bought some lovely white organic cotton flannel and bright, happy turquoise cotton with little white dots to get things started, but still need to finalize my designs and get some additional fabrics (I’m thinking a yellow print and charcoal solid – along with the white and turquoise, that should make for a lovely gender-neutral color palate.)

In addition to the quilts, I’m going to be looking for some second-hand linen fabric for making bento bags and furoshiki wraps. I’ve completely fallen in love with using textiles to wrap shop purchases and gifts, and would love to repurpose some old linens for this use.
