2012 Walk for Farm Animals

I just signed up for Farm Sanctuary‘s 2012 Walk for Farm Animals in Pasadena, CA on October 27.

This year I’m walking for Julia, a mama pig who was rescued from a factory farm after a brave farm worker called the authorities to report Julia’s abuse at the hands of another worker.  Eight hours after her rescue she gave birth to sixteen adorable piglets.  She is now healing at Farm Sanctuary’s New York Shelter, where she gets to be a mama to her babies for the first time in her life.

Washington, D.C. :: TAFA

This past week I attended the HSUS‘s Taking Action for Animals conference in Washington, D.C.  This was my third year at TAFA, and each year is better than the last.  It’s wonderful to be surrounded by other animal advocates for the weekend, learning about the issues and working hard to make the world a better place for animals.  I especially had a wonderful time hanging out with my good friends Jaya, Gwen, and Judy.

Compassion Over Killing’s Summer Soirée

Compassion Over Killing held its Summer Soirée last night in Hermosa Beach, on a rooftop with a lovely view of the ocean.  My good friend Gwen catered the event and I helped with some of the food prep and as a hostess at the event.

Look at all of this amazing vegan food that Gwen created! We had Daiya-stuffed pretzel bites, spicy sweet potato fries, wrapped veggie dogs, sliders, baby banana splits, apple Daiya cheddar tarts, watermelon with Daiya havarti, mini cupcakes, chocolate covered “bacon,” truffle popcorn, and chocolate peanut butter butter truffles (the truffles were donated by Chef AJ).

We had a lovely view of the beach and ocean from the rooftop patio.  The evening was a great success, raising money to fund CoK’s important work helping farmed animals.
